The End of July...

...We've already established the fact that time is flying, but I'm sitting here wallowing in denial.  This week is proving to me that my husband is leaving for Alaska...(soon, sometime in the next week or so, we don't know until a few days before), my baby boy is now napping and falling asleep on his own (which may sound like a no-brainer at ten months, but the little babe loves to cuddle!), and I'm slowly planning for his first birthday.

I haven't felt much like writing because I just want time to stop for a minute...Harper pulls up on everything and crawls faster than I can run!  This momma needs to get into shape!  It's survival of the fittest over here, especially with Daddy leaving, I have a feeling I'm going to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off!  For the last week or two his toys aren't cool enough for him anymore.  He loves coasters, picture frames (what few I haven't moved...), night stands and all their glorious ammenities, Momma's water glass, bar stools, bistro tables, drawers with cookie sheets, dining room tables, cupboards with tupperware, french doors, soil out of the garden, you name it, this boy would love to be in it!  He officially has his own cupboard to help Momma cook, and he is cutting two lower teeth!  We've been busy!  The last week he's been wetting through his night time diaper (I'm constantly looking for remedies!), and he's been waking between 2am and 4am for one to two hours thinking we should crawl all over and play!

This boy is so full of life.  I love it!  I just hope I can keep up once my better half leaves for the Bering Sea...??  It's going to be so different this time.  He's been home since the end of February, and we have been spoiled!  This time I think he'll remember that his daddy is missing, and this time he's so much more active!  He's more independent, but he can cause himself more harm if I'm not quick on my feet!  I'm lucky to have family close while Gus is away at work...Very blessed.

Just tonight we had a family dinner at Grandpa and Farmor Molan's home...(the grandparents, okay the grandmas are deciding on names to be called by Harper...the grandpas haven't given much input yet!) and Harper was getting sleepy.  He was a little fussy all night, those darn teeth, and he's scared of Charlie (our bull dog on a stay-cation at their home until we sell our house...long story...), so we were getting ready to leave and changing his diaper.  Diaper changes are to be done on the run these days.  If he's playing and having fun in his crib, then the diaper is changed in the crib.  Standing on the couch?  Sitting on Daddy??  Diapers can be changed anywhere!!  Back to this evening...Harper was enjoying his Daddy and I began changing his diaper.  He gets happy when it is off so I let him sit for a minute and everyone (Farmor Molan, Grandpa, Auntie Ahna, Auntie Kirdy, Friend Chris, and myself) enjoys a little bare heiney.  It's too cute!  You just have to give it a squeeze!  He gets a little smile and Grandpa Jack says as if to cue the boy, "Here he goes.  He's going to pee!"...And there he peed!  All over his diaper cover, all over his daddy's pants, all over the leather ottoman, the carpet, and even Farmor Molan's flip flops!  I headed for cover and dodged his bullet!  It was pretty funny and a great memory!

On another thought...more family related, not just about Harper, Gus and I decided recently that we want goats.  We want to raise goats for their milk and make cheese.  As a hobby, and a healthy, tasty alternative to organic cheese.  Organic cheese has been difficult for me to find (and my babe, and my honey and I all love cheese!!), and when I do find it, it's not super yummy.  We are in the process of getting chickens, and we would love to add goats to the family down the road.  There isn't any room in this house for them of course, we can't even house our bull dog!  But when Harper enters school and we settle, we're going to give it a try!!  We are really excited about it too!  And this way Gus can name his goats all the funny names we had for Harper if he were a girl!

I think I've babbled enough for tonight...I've been meaning to write sooner, but it seems that whenever I grab my computer to blog Harper wakes and needs his Momma!  I think he wanted to leave his loved ones in suspense!  For old times sake, and again nostalgia, here's my sweet baby...

Five days old.  And...
Ten Months....I seem to hold on tighter the bigger he gets...
