Family Reunions and Blueberry Picking!

The weekend before last, Harper and I joined my parents at my dad's family reunion.  It was a picnic in a park close to a river.  We thought it would be a fun day trip, and I love showing Harper new things.  After the picnic we stopped at an organic blueberry farm.  Harper is obsessed with blueberries this summer, so we had to stop!  Between the four of us, we picked about ten pounds and I brought them home, washed, froze, and vacuum sealed them for safe keeping!  That should get us through the winter!

This last weekend we went to Lake Billy Chinook, like we do every summer.  Harper had a good time, but he came down with his first cold!  The poor thing.  His nose is full of snot and it runs like crazy.  I've never had a use for those bulb syringes until now.  Before, Harper loved them as teethers, but now he crawls away from me as fast as he can.  He just wants me to leave his nose alone.  The poor thing.  I have never seen so much snot!  Occasionally he will humor me and let me suck his nose out with the syringe.  And he giggles and smiles thinking this messy boy stuff is pretty neat...but most of the time he can't be bothered with such things...He'd rather be playing, or reading, or standing...His sleep has been difficult since as well seeing as he can't breathe very well.  It wakes him up coughing, and he snores!  It's pretty sweet, but I feel bad for my little man.

One other thing I learned this weekend at the lake is Harper is scared of the dark just like his Momma!  We have never slept in the dark before.  I always have a night light on so I can check on him through out the night, and when Gus is gone, I leave a lamp on in the bathroom.  At the cabin, all of the electricity is run by a generator.  So when it's dark, it's really dark!  Even though Harper was sleeping right next to me, he would wake up and scream.  I had the most difficult time settling him down.  I didn't know if it was this cold he has, or what.  Finally before the last evening was over I found a little tap light to lay beside our bed.  He slept like his normal self!!  And I slept better too!

This week I think we are laying low, trying to get him feeling good again.  He is so happy through it all.  What a little trooper...

Harper loves his swing at Grammy and Poppy's house!
The babe adores driving.  Poppy's jeep here.  But he'll drive anything.  And when it's finally time to continue on with the trip, he screams like you've just ate a whole pint of blueberries right in front of him and not shared a single one!
He's mastering the dangerous art of climbing stairs....I'm attempting to teach him to come back down safely, but he would rather just climb up and up and up and up!  He's a daredevil...and I'm a scardy cat!

Harper and I at the blueberry farm!  His little piece of Heaven!
All of us with the sun in our eyes (we're just thankful for sun at this point in the summer!)
Picking blueberries!

Harper watching the sheep at the blueberry farm.  It came towards him and scared him, but for the most part he enjoyed him from a distance!
Harper and Poppy show their muscles to each other...It's pretty cute.
