I've been a horrible blogger this week! We're full of transitions, and it has left us all dragging here in the Molan home.
Harper goes between his infant car seat and his convertible car seat. We are hanging on to the infant seat despite his 21 pound frame mostly because of swimming lessons. After class I bathe him, dress him, and snuggle him into his seat, giving me a chance to change out of my suit! We tried it without last Tuesday, and we were successful, but it wasn't ideal...He seemed a little uncomfortable, and washing out and drying our suits was simply out of the question!
We are also teething big time....our biggest transition. Harper is working on his two front teeth, specifically his upper left one. He's such a great sport about it, but the last two or three nights he hasn't gone down to sleep until after 9:30pm! He gets really fussy around normal bedtime (7ish), and then he seems to get so sleepy he gets silly! So from about 8pm on, he is full of smiles, belly laughs, and funny sounds. He's really talking a lot these days and learning many new sounds! He seems to enjoy every minute of it too! And then he is up quite a bit throughout the night too. My poor little man. His lowers came in so easy compared to this. I wish I could take away his pain...Needless to say we are both a little sleep deprived!
Harper is dropping naps as well! On a good day with his teething we can get a morning nap an hour long, maybe more, and then a late afternoon nap...He's a busy bee!
He is still not a huge fan of solids! I offer it every morning and every evening. We have best results at breakfast. His favorite food is apples! He tolerates it without making horrible faces...so I consider it a success! I'm making new batches of food this week and plan on incorporating peaches, melon, and spinach. I'm trying to offer Harper more finger foods, as everything he touches goes into his mouth. Except for food! I've tried banana pieces, avocado pieces, as well as letting him suck on a cool cucumber slice with my help (soothing his poor little gummies!). Gus is a little nervous about the finger foods. He is scared he may have to use his infant rescue skills...
Harper also mastered the art of drinking from a straw tonight while we were out to dinner with family friends. His daddy helped him and he got it in about two minutes time!! He can do anything! He's too smart! And he had a lot of fun with it, which is most important!
We're exhausted with all these changes taking place, so sorry for lacking photos and poor literary technique...I'm off to rest with my sweet men and look forward to starting some veggies in pots on my deck tomorrow afternoon! It'll be a fun family activity for the three of us!
