This Week's Latest...

...It's already April.  I can't believe it.  A six-week old came into swim class today, and although he looked larger than Harper at that age, I again became nostalgic.  I'm not sure how I can possibly wrap my head around the fact that Harper will never be that small again.  It's a good thing.  If he were to digress like that we would have serious issues.  But I just can't believe that in a couple days my little man will be a few ounces bigger, a centimeter or more taller, and seven months old.  That's closer to age ONE ::gasp:: than age brand new.  He's so big, so strong, so happy (for the most part) and such a light in our lives...For all of this I am thankful.  It's just all flying by so quickly!

Yesterday, Harper stood on his hands and knees for the first time!  He did it with such ease, and stood for more than five seconds.  I immediately called Gus to tell him the news.  He responded by, "I leave the house for five minutes, and he goes and does something new!"...The rest of the afternoon during play time we tried to put him back in the position, and flop onto his belly he went every time!  I'm not pushing him, but it's incredible to see him scoot and get to the things he wants.

This babe has a serious obsession with our cell phones.  He's definitely a Blackberry man!  He looks for them all the time, even when they're not lit up!  We're trying to make them off limits.  But so far, our little man is a huge fan of electronics!  Cell phones, computers, cameras...It makes me day dream about the future, and all the cool things he'll have access to in his lifetime.

We finally had success with avocados!  Last weekend Harper finally acted like he enjoyed his solids!
Tasty!
Mmmmmm!  And if Gus and I want to enjoy a meal together, Harper's favorite part is "drawing" with his fingers and the avocado on his high chair tray.  So I have been known to eat while he cleans himself up and plays with his left overs!  He's happy, and I get a warm meal (It's hard to remember what food at the right temperature tastes like!), not to mention some time to visit with Gus!  The way I see it, everybody wins, and Harper gets cleaned up right after!  He's always helping me with the spoon, or his hands.  It's a messy process, but I appreciate the help!  I desperately need to get this boy some non-toxic finger paints!!  (It's on our baby bucket list...will be sharing soon!)

........So with Harper enjoying the avocados (this has only happened once!) the poor babe had some constipation.  Our usual three to five time a day pooer took a five day hiatus!  He seemed a little fussy and became a grunting king!  After a quick email to his pediatrician, we ran to the store for some Pedialyte.  Two ounces, twice a day, for no more than two days, and we're back in business!  Granted he probably only got an ounce total, but it worked!  He REFUSED it from a bottle!  We had better luck with his sippy cup, although most of it landed on his shirt!  It was a rough couple of days during the transition.  More so, a rough couple of nights for Bubbs and I.  I woke to him crying and even screaming trying to get things moving again.  I rubbed his belly and waited...I felt so sorry for him.  He feels much better now, and even enjoyed some green beans for the first time last evening!
Amidst all the frustrations with his constipation, Harper consistently finds joy in one simple thing.  No matter what the circumstances, if he catches a glimpse of the candles on the mantle of our fireplace he instantly smiles.  On a really good day he squeels with delight...We're not sure why, but it's great to watch!
Look at that face!!

Harper loves to dance.  While I'm changing his diaper or simply standing above him, if I begin dancing he follows with his own!  Smiles, heel banging on the floor, and fist pumping to his sides...He goes all out and loves to dance with his mommy.  I'll have to get that on video, but here's a still picture of it!  He always has a look of determination on his face as if he's memorizing my moves and trying to replicate!

He also surprised me the other day by hanging his skwish (favorite toy from cousins in Chicago, I've babbled about this toy before!) on his activity center with the other toys than dangle above him.  I was thoroughly impressed!
This boy has many talents!

Alright, we'll leave you with some photos from yesterday...We were having fun during play time...and I'm going to go try to figure out the video option here while my sweet little babe continues to nap!
Cool like Daddy....!

Feet!  The only toy that Mom can't even put away!

Check out his wrist....it's lost!
Disregard the fact that you can see straight up my nose, I'm sorry, but this photo was just too cute of Harper!
Oh I could just squeeze him!!
